By the time he finished his explanation the atmosphere in the room had shifted entirely. The same people who had laughed moments before were now wiping tears from their faces. When he stepped away from the podium a thunderous standing ovation shook the building. Watching him from the crowd I finally stopped worrying if I had done enough as a single young mother.
