On Friday morning I arrived at the hospital room carrying a thick folder while Gabriel rehearsed his painful expressions and Brenda impatiently checked her watch. Right after ten in the morning a man entered the room but instead of a legal notary it was a financial fraud investigator accompanied by two uniformed police officers. Startled by the sudden police presence Gabriel completely forgot his paralyzed act and quickly sat straight up in bed using both of his perfectly healthy arms. I placed the flash drive on his table and watched as the officers played the security footage of him walking and plotting against me. Nurse Ana and the head doctor entered the room to confirm the authenticity of the video and present the conclusive medical tests proving his perfect health. Facing imminent arrest his mother Beatrice finally broke down and surrendered her mobile phone to the police to reveal text messages proving the entire family knew about the scheme from the very beginning.

The authorities immediately launched a full criminal investigation into his financial activities while I secured a divorce and obtained sole custody of our son. Gabriel tried to blame me for destroying his life as he was escorted out of the medical facility but I reminded him that his own greed had ruined his future. The inherited property remained safely under my name and I eventually accepted a significant promotion to lead a brand new accounting division at my company. Our home finally transformed into a peaceful sanctuary free from the constant tension and financial stress that Gabriel had secretly introduced into our lives. I also learned a profound lesson about trusting the innocent honesty of my child instead of the manipulative lies of adults. Whenever Liam tells me a story now I put down whatever I am doing and listen to every single word ensuring he knows his voice will always be heard and respected.
