🕯 Eight Years Since the Karatu School Bus Disaster
On May 6, 2017, a school minibus carrying Lucky Vincent Primary School students plunged into a ravine near Karatu in Tanzania’s Arusha region. At the time, 32 children—aged approximately 12 to 13—two teachers, and the driver were killed . Rescue workers and local volunteers rushed to the scene, but most aboard didn’t survive . Initial investigations suggested the probable cause was speeding amid rainy, slippery conditions .

President John Magufuli declared it a national tragedy, emphasizing the loss of bright young lives about to take mock examinations ahead of secondary school—dreams cut short in an instant .
